Understanding Laser Varicose Veins
Shave the chest if necessary where the pads will be placed. Otherwise you may have trouble getting the pads to adhere properly if the casualty has a very hairy chest. Dry the chest if necessary. Pads adhere better to a dry surface. Peel away the protective plastic and attach electrode pads – one pad on the right upper anterior side of the casualty’s chest wall just below the collarbone and one pad on the left lower anterior chest wall just below the nipple.
Some electrodes have instructions on where they should be placed. Special pads for children may have instructions to place one pad on the Front of the chest and the other on the back. Stand back and ensure no one is touching the casualty (clear casualty). Press the analyse button on the defibrillator and follow the voice prompts Note: some machines automatically analyse when the power is turned on for Laser Varicose Veins.
