Traditionally, first responders refer to firefighting and police departments; however, their role can also encompass ambulance crews, paramedics, and public health staff.
Paramedics are the highest level of emergency medical providers, though these tend to be pricier to hire than emergency medical technicians (EMTs).
Medical first responders do not possess the same level of training as EMTs, yet they still possess important skills that can save lives during an emergency situation.
