There is no universal sign language. Different countries have different sign languages. Sign Language interpretation originated about two hundred years ago with the intermixing of local sign languages and French sign language. Over time, these sign languages have evolves and into a complex and costly mature sign language.

It has its own laws of pronunciation, its ways of word formation and word order. Languages have varying forms of signaling different functions, such as asking questions. For example, when asking a question in English, there is a rise in pitch while in this sign language, the users as questions by raising their eyebrows, widening their eyes and tilting their body forward.

In this sign language, different individuals have different ways of expressing their ideas. It also has various dialects and accents, just like other languages. The rhythm of signing, slang, punctuation, and signs used are different from one region to another. Also, factors such as age and gender affect the use of this sign language.
