We’ve expanded the Picnic! menu
As we head into the final three Picnic! events for the 2010 season, we’ve added a few new items to the menu. These are trial runs for our new menu when we re-open this Fall. As usual, all comments & suggestions are greatly appreciated.
An amazing day in Andes – now with photos!
Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Picnic! on the road in Andes. You helped make t our biggest Picnic! so far & our biggest day ever. Basically sold out of everything in about 3 hours. Great to see so many folks eating BBQ in Hogan’s General Store & on the porch. We’re also discussing bringing Picnic! back to Andes on September 11 for the Andes Town Lawn Sale.
Picnic! returns to it’s usual location – 1758 County Highway 41, Roxbury – on September 21. Our full Picnic! menu plus we’re cooking 12 racks of ribs. That 4 racks more than usual! Be sure to call ahead if you want to guarantee getting food. Looking forward to seeing the BBQ faithful next weekend.
August 14: Picnic! at Andes Community Day
This Saturday – August 14th – we’re taking Picnic! on the road again. This time we’re heading to our new location - Andes, NY. We’ll be setting up our tent in front of Hogan’s General Store (our new location coming this Fall) & selling sandwiches & sides starting at 11am.
There will be no ribs or BBQ feasts this Saturday!
As we will have no phone on Saturday, if you wish to pre-order, please call or email before 6pm on Friday August 13th.
Our menu will be:
Pulled Pork sandwich
Beef Brisket sandwich
Smoked Turkey sandwich
Pig Wings (bite size pieces of porky goodness)
Smoked Mac & Cheese
BBQ Beans
Mustard Slaw
Sweet & Sour Slaw
We’ll keep serving until we run out of food. We look forward to seeing everyone out for a day of fun & BBQ in Andes.
Menu testing for Loco Local Picnic!
On August 28th, we’re pulling out all the stops for this Picnic! In addition to our usual menu of BBQ, we’ll be bringing out the grills & cooking an array of locally produced meats & sides. Plus we’ll be staying open later to serve dinner orders.
The meat is from a variety of local producers including Sap Bush Hollow with produce from local farms including Madeline & Tovey’s organic farm in Roxbury, Shaul Farm in Fultonham & Lucky Dog in Hamden. We’re also looking at using ingredients from Harpersfield Cheese in Jefferson, Tea Thyme Herb in Roxbury & Barber’s Farm in Middleburgh.
Above are pictures of a few of the recent menu tests. Current plan is for the following local meat items:
Sap Bush Hollow grass fed Beef Short Ribs: coated in our Java Cinnamon Dust & smoked over oak & maple.
Grass Fed Flatiron Steak Tacos: marinated in our Tex Mex Marinade & grilled to order over oak & maple. Topped with locally grown greens, onions & tomatoes.
Local Pork Loin Sliders: coated in our Cha Cha Dust & smoked over maple & oak. Piled on a slider bun & topped with a choice of slaws made from local cabbage, carrots, onions & peppers. It’s the ultimate pork slider!
Sap Bush Hollow Sausage Grinders: fresh sausage – grill smoked – on a bun with local peppers & onions.
Picnic! Schedule
The summer is flying by & the number of Cha Cha Hut Picnic! events is quickly dwindling. Here is our schedule for the remainder of the summer:
